Common Chiropractic Techniques

  1. Spinal manipulation

Spinal manipulation is a technique commonly applied as a remedy to lower back pain Oklahoma City locals have used for years. Here, there is application of force in performing adjustments to the spinal joints in the area of concern. Also known as High Velocity Low Amplitude Technique, spinal manipulation mainly seeks to reduce rigidity of the affected muscles, increase blood circulation in the area and increase the range of movement. This way, pain is relieved eventually after one or few visits to the professional.

  1. Spinal Mobilization

In spinal mobilization, not much of pressure is applied. It is mostly used by a Chiropractor upon assessing your condition and seeing that the symptoms are less severe. It may also be employed by the expert when a patient prefers a gentler approach or in the case where they have lower tolerance to some of the pain that might be involved in the therapeutic process. A good example is where the patient has some medical condition that can worsen with application of high velocity pressure. The technique is also known as Low Velocity Low Amplitude therapy.

  1. Adjunctive Therapy

Adjunctive therapy is yet another approach that may be involved in Chiropractic therapy, which involves a series of exercises for strengthening core muscles, stretching of the irritable areas temperature treatment and massage therapy. It can come in handy where patients are less tolerant to painful approaches but may also be combined with spinal manipulation.
